A few weeks ago we showed Pearl our Obama-Biden sign and told her that we were voting for Obama. She got to really, really like the word “Obama” and began noticing that the sign in our yard was all over town. Given that our town is a bit of a Democrat bastion amidst a Republican district and Ohio’s “battleground” status, people are very fired up about this election and we see lots and lots of Obama signs, stickers, and buttons. This, of course, makes Pearl very happy and when we see an Obama sign or his picture she points and loudly says “Obama!”
Big A made an interesting point the other day: Kids like Obama because almost all of them have weird names, too. I hadn’t thought of that. “Do people still name their kids John,” she wondered.
I’m getting a little nervous about taking Drew with us to vote since you aren’t allowed to campaign inside the building. He’s quite vocal about our love of Barack Obama.
I beleive that Rosser and this mythical Alex P. Keaton Bobbitt would have a grand time tying their bow-ties together. And I mean that in a totally innocent way.
I know YOU are holding your breath, but how is Nora holding up? I know she gave a ton of money to Obama’s campaign and is expecting some serious kickbacks. That will be money down the drain if he loses. She must be pooping right in her pants.
Just in passing…several years ago I swore to my wife I was going to tie the bowtie for a black-tie event. Funny, until you realize how hard it is to do it. I spent an hour on it. It was almost at that moment I swore off anything but a clip on. It’s really hard. So, I said, “Wife, help.” She looked at the pictures and fiddled with it for an hour, and then said, “Clip on.” Tying a bowtie is the most humbling failure I might have ever had.
so yeah, pearl’s dad, what’s new with your life? we are going to paris for the weekend next week. should be exciting. my first time going there. kasia has a friend from college who lives within “stumbling distance” from downtown.

Be careful, you and “Pearl’s dad”. You don’t want to push so hard that you raise rebels who go ultra-rightwing.
I know with my luck my son will turn out to be the Alex P Keaton of my family.

Max, I think that all our communication should take the form of comments on Cara’s blog.

there is no downtown in paris, but you can stumble all over the place. and why hasn’t rosser ever taught YOU to tie a bow tie?
